Our first dive at Sail Rock :) Beach Bungalow away from home. Quintessential beach vacation sunset.
The thought of checking out of our infinity pool paradise into a subpar accomodation on the beach that already fell quite shy of expectations just didn't seem the thing to do. So we jumped the ferry and headed to Ko Phangan. No one on the ferry seemed to know where to go on the more quiet and secluded island out of N,S,E or W and a comparison of travel guides yielded little compelling direction. We took a leap of faith and followed another couple's lead to what turned out to be the most amazing bungalows for $8 per night!! They are built into the hillside with dramatic sea views, bouganvilla blooms everywhere, two beautiful teak open bar/restaurants w/ comfortable furniture and Thai style pillows. There is even a great pool overlooking the sea. After booking our scuba for the following day and taking a quick dip in the pool the angry black clouds found us from Ko Samui. At first it seemed romantic, Paul gave me a foot massage and then the power went out. The power stayed out and the next thing we knew we could feel little rain sprinkles from the ceiling of our bungalow. We relocated to one of the restaurants where they lit some candles. I know many of you are reading this from your desk at work so I wanted to let you know, no complaints here...it's still paradise!!
